CT District President’s Message

Greetings fellow Exchangites. Hope everyone is enjoying the summer and having the opportunity to spend time with family and friends I have recently returned from our National Exchange Club convention in New Orleans. It was a very enjoyable experience and I would recommend future attendance to our National Convention to all Exchangites. New Orleans was a fantastic place and the sights and sounds only added to the experience.

Our new National President is Tom Karnes of Lincoln Park, Michigan. Tom is a retired police officer/Chief of Police and currently serves his home town community as Mayor. His wife Mary is our new first lady of Exchange and she is a very supportive wife and a pleasure to meet. They were our National representatives at our recent CT’s Finest Banquet in May. As our new CT District President, I am part of Tom’s team known as “The Force”. Our motto is, Living Exchange, Investigating the Possibilities. Tom’s message to the convention attendees was to live our lives around the beliefs and mission of Exchange. Make our communities better places to live, helping those who are less fortunate and above all, prevent the abuse of children in America.

Tom also encouraged us to continue the campaign set forth by previous National President Don Wright, and that is, Just One More. If we all ask just one more person to join Exchange, we will grow significantly. We will see positive growth in the CT District this coming year, and new clubs are on the horizon. It would be great to have the CT District recognized on the National Convention stage in Columbus, Ohio next year, as the leader in growth and retention. I cannot do this alone. I will be looking to all of you to put your best effort forward and help us achieve this goal.

Besides myself and my wife Nancy, we were joined at the National Convention in New Orleans with several CT District Exchangites. Joe and Annette Petruzzi, Cliff and Regina Kiernan, Mike and Kay DeNegris, Bill and Donna Solder, Joe Dudek, Chris Miller and Yvonne Ledoux. We also ran in to some old friends, Bill and Ermine Deacy, formerly of the Norwalk club, and now living in California.

Our next CT District meeting is scheduled on August 12, 2014 at the Manor Inn, in Southington, CT. Please contact CT District Secretary John Javaruski at or 860-673-4749 with you meal choice selection. Board meeting begins at 6:30 PM, regular meeting and dinner begins at 7:00PM. Hope to see as many of you as possible at this meeting. Deadline for response is August 5th.

“Unity For Service”
