Loving husband, father, and grandfather

WATERBURY — Mr. Joseph T. Petruzzi Sr., 71, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015. He was the husband of Annette (Florio) Petruzzi.Joe was born in Waterbury on June 2, 1944, son of the late Canio and Lucy (Martinelli) Petruzzi. He was the owner and operator of Joe's Cigar Shop in Rocky Hill for many years until his retirement. Joe was extremely proud of his grandchildren. They were his life. He was also proud of all the work he had done. He was a loving husband, brother, father, poppy, godfather, uncle, cousin and to many a friend! His God and his family were everything to him, but his charitable work for children and the prevention of child abuse throughout the years is what drove him.

He was a member of the Exchange Club of Wolcott, past president of the Exchange Club of Waterbury, past president of the National Exchange Club Foundation, and past president and founder of the Exchange Club Family Life Foundation of Greater Waterbury. He was also past commissioner of Long River Council Boy Scouts of America, past president of the Catholic Committee on Scouting, past president of the Olympian Sports Club, and past Connecticut district president, co-founder and co-chair of the Salute to Connecticut's Finest and Bravest Awards Dinners.

Besides his wife, Annette, of 49 years, he leaves his son, Joseph T. Petruzzi Jr. and his wife, Susan Ferrelli, of Waterbury; two daughters, Michele Marchetti and her husband, Arnold, of Waterbury, Tracie Wrinn and her husband, Casey, of Wolcott; three brothers, Mark Petruzzi and his wife, Rosalie, of Southington, Vincent Petruzzi and his wife, Jackie, of Naugatuck, and Canio "Kenny" Petruzzi and his wife, Susan, of Thomaston; a sister, Catherine Lebel of Waterbury; and six grandchildren, Ashlie Morris, Emily Morris, Michael Marchetti, Christopher Wrinn, Anthony Marchetti and Abby Wrinn.

Arrangements: Funeral will be held 9 a.m. Thursday from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, to Our Lady of Loreto Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
